Here is mine

I've used papers from the Sundae of Seasons CD. Aren't they pretty and very summery I think. The ticket sentiment is from the new Candy Doodles CD. The flowers have also been punched from the same papers. The stamp is a Gorjuss girl stamp.

Not been much in the way of cards on my blog as I've been doing samples for the Polkadoodles show on C&C. It's on Sunday at 9am and 2pm so don't forget to watch!!

But I do have a couple of tags to show you. I've been practising techniques to put on my art journalling pages. Using tags is a great way to do this.

I love the texture of the tree, I used some TH crackle paint in clear.If you click on the tags you'll get a lovely close up.

They've both been made with a background of pastels, spray inks, distress stain, paint, gesso, ink pads and paper artsy stamps.I've also used stencils.

Ooo some exciting news from me. The brand new Issue 1 The Pen and Paper stamp club magazine from Polkadoodles has been dispatched!! I've seen it and it's absolutely fantastic!!! Packed full of inspiration from the DT. You get

These pages are made with gesso, adirondak sprays, TH distress stains, paints, copics, stamps. Anything I could get my hands on really!! When finished I lightly sprayed it all over with some glimmer mist.
The words are some I found on the net and the I printed them out using Word.

Another Friday morning and of course it's time for the Polkadoodles challenge. The theme this week was set by Norine and she chose the theme of

Quick and Simple Valentine's Card

My card is very quick and simple. I used the Buster template from the Paper Boutique 3 CD and papers from the Sugar Birdies CD. I printed him out and added some glossy accents to his eyes and nose. Then I just added a ribbon, decorative border and sentiment to his coat.

Nikky has been very generous this week and offered up a free digi stamp which you MUST use for your challenge card. It's a beautiful stamp to inspire you to make your own Valentine's cards.

So I hope you will join us in our Valentine's challenge and I look forward to seeing your work with the digistamp.

Friday again and it's time for another Polkadoodle Challenge. So this week the theme is

Here's my card.

I have used Polkadoodle's Paper Boutique Vol 3 CD. I used the Country Cottage template and then I used a mixture of the papers from the CD and also printed out some of the images and coloured them with Copics. I inked the edges of the papers with distress inks.The sentiment is also from the same CD.

365 Art Journal (should be 366 for a leap year)

Today I'm showing my 365 Art Journal. This is the first one I have attempted and I've gotta say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Got really messy but it was fun!!

Kate Crane was a big inspiration to me in starting this. Her work is out of this world, love it!!

The journal is from Asda and was only £4, bargain! I started off covering the pages with pastel pencils rubbed in. Then I went to town with acrylic paint, different kinds of inks, stamps, sequins. I even got my embossing gun out! The circles are cut with punches from Tim Holtz papers. The January is made from thickers and covered in metallic acrylic paint and then edged with distress inks.

The girl is a stamp which Cherry kindly stamped out for me and I coloured it in with distress inks.

Now I've got to try and remember what I did at the beginning of January so I can fill it in!!

I would like to get into the world of art journalling and thought after the last page I needed more practise. So an ATC might be a bit better to practise on. Well I tried to doodle on it but now I know doodling is just not my thing. So I think it's stamping for me.

Hard to believe but to start with I used a Tim Holtz ATC sized piece of card that was in one of his pads. I've inked it, painted it, stencilled it, just about everything you can imagine!!! The girl is from a digi kit by Wish Bliss Studio and is called Some kind of wonderful. I forgot all about these kits, I used to love using them in my digi layouts. They are ideal for art journalling. I made the saying using the computer and then just chopped it.

This will be one of a set of three.

Art Journal

After seeing lots of these in several forums and liking the look of them I decided to have a go. Not a brilliant first page but a start!
My art journal will be with the theme of inspirational sayings.

I started off with a cheap book from Asda. It's pages are quite large maybe in hindsight I should have got a smaller one. It has a lovely soft grey cover and some files at the back. I think I'll be making some tags or ATCs to put in them.

I used distress inks, metallic acrylic paints, stamps, pastel pencils, Tim Holtz papers, tissue paper. I couldn't find my gesso so I used a glue instead.

The saying says " Spoken words fly away, written words last forever"

My desk now looks like a bombs hit it and my hands seemed to have turned a funny colour but I had fun and I think that's the main thing!!

A bit different

So I used to be into altered stuff a long time ago and then stopped and made cards instead. Now I'd like to do both so I made a very quick ATC to gently get me back into it. I aim to do an art journal soon.

I used a selection of distress ink pads for the base and then lightly stamped some patterns with the inks. For the main image I used black Stazon. The little sequins I got today at Poundland. A big bag for a .... £1. :0) I edged the ATC with some gold ink.

When we moved back to UK from Germany I had to throw a lot of my craft stuff out. Grrr how I wished I'd kept it now , most of it was altered art stuff!!

I have used mostly Polkadoodle items from the shop.

Window frame:- Kraft paper from the Magical Winter CD part 2
I coloured the images with Copics and added a touch of diamond sprinkles to the trees. The border was punched with a Martha Stewart border punch and the snowflakes are punched with a Karl punch. I added some little gems to the border and snowflakes for a bit of bling.

Because it's our last challenge for the year and it's Christmas, Nikky is offering up a £10 Polkadoodle voucher to one lucky random winner! A Quick Christmas Card

I made this card real quick! I used the Magical Winter part 2 CD. I printed out a topper, a sheet of patterned paper and a sentiment. I cut out four strips from the paper and glued them to a blank white card. I then layered the topper onto blue card added some stickles and stuck that to the card. I added the sentiment and two punched snowflakes. A quick and simple card for when you're in a hurry or have forgot someone!!

I've made a birthday card for my mum, getting a bit fed up of Xmas cards now.

I have distressed all the paper edges with a sandpaper block to bring out the embossing.
The decorated edges and scalloped circles are done with spellbinder dies. Everything else from stash. The image has been coloured in with Copics.

Thursday again and it's 31 !! yikes days till Christmas. Are you ready?

Today's card is for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge and we had a great sketch designed by DT girl, Fiona to follow.

So here's my card

Everything off the card is from the Polka Doodles Magical Winter CD Part 2. Well except the pearls and wooden heart. I used my label spellbinder die to cut around the image, which is coloured with copics and clear star pen. I've also used some diamond stickles to act as the snow. I coloured the wooden heart with lavender distress ink.

Polkadoodles Challenge

Today's card is my Polkadoodle Challenge card. It was Fliss's turn to set the challenge and it is a "shaped card".
I bought these lovely card blanks at the SECC last Saturday so decided to use one.

Digi images, papers and sentiment are all from the lovely new CD Pretty Tuff which is being showcased at the NEC now.
You can preorder your copy from the Polkadoodles website and it will be sent out on the 7th November.
I've used a spellbinder die to cut out the papers to match the shape of the card. The images have been coloured with Copics.

It's a great challenge and the other DT girls have made some gorgeous cards. Why not pop over and have a look and join in.

Lili of the valley 2nd card!

I am on a roll today! Here's my 2nd LOTV card for today and as it's glittery I will again put it in for the LOTV challenge. It's using the lovely Christmas Dance stamp.

The pattern going across the bottom on the paper is made using one of my new Martha Stewart all over the page punches. Great idea these punches and makes a lovely effect.

It's Friday yay!!! I can't wait for the weekend as I'm going to my first UK craft fair at the SECC, Glasgow. I've been living in Germany for the last 11 years and craft shops were a bit far and few between so I'm really going to go mad I think!!!

Anyway enough gabbing and onto today's card and it's for my 1st Polkadoodles challenge as a DT member. So the theme is

Mystical & Magical

and as it's a Stashbox stamps week the DT can use any of their stamps and compliment them with Polkadoodle papers, sentiments and embellies.

I've used my new Pretty Tuff CD from Polkadoodles again. That's the papers, images and sentiment. I've coloured the images with copics. The ribbon and buttons are from the Polkadoodle's Christmas Boutique kit.

I have some exciting news for you today if you've seen my post below then you'll know what I mean.
Nikky from Polkadoodles has designed a brand new CD called Pretty Tuff to compliment the Pretty Sweet CD. At last a brilliant male themed CD! It's absolutely fabulous. I don't really use CDs but this one has me converted! You can print everything out or like me if you enjoy colouring your images you can print them out in black and white and give them your own colour scheme.They are a gem to colour! The papers all match beautifully, my fav is the scattered letters one and you also get sentiments and embellies. The sentiments can be punched out as they fit a 1 1/2" or 2" punch.

I can now officially tell you that I have been accepted onto the Polka Doodle DT!! I have to admit I first saw Nikky's work on C&C not very long ago and fell in love. Must have been fate but a few days later I saw that she had a DT call and applied.
I had the good news a few days ago and I'm awaiting some products. So when they come look out! there'll be plenty of Polka Doodle cards.

I had real trouble colouring this one as the red hair just wouldn't go right and it bled into her neck and ear. But hey live and learn!

It's another digilayout but today I'm hoping to get in the craftroom and make, yes make a card. I've to go shopping at the weekend and get some essentials but I think I have enough to make a decent sort of card later.

Honey 'n' Sunflower cupcakes

I had a bit of an experiment this morning. I was stuck in the kitchen cos we are having some rooms painted so decided to make some cupcakes. I knew I was going to use sunflowers so decided to use some honey too. I added it to the sponge mixture. At least I learnt something new today - you need more than a tablespoon to be able to taste it!! But they still were really yummy.

The photo doesn't show the true colours as I had to use my Blackberry. The buttercream is a lovely orange colour, the sunflowers yellow and the middles are small chocolate chips.

Cupcakes!

So here is my first photo. My first lot of cupcakes baked in our new home. Not a very good photo as I had to use my Blackberry. Can't find the camera at the moment.

The orange coloured ones are made with an orange flavoured sponge topped with orange buttercream and orange and lemon slices.

The others are sponge with a bramble preserve middle and topped with a pink buttercream and pink and white heart sprinkles.

I think I need to be a bit more creative and give them proper names.

Well at last I think we have a bit of peace in our recently very unsettled lives! Hubby is now out of the army and training to be a train driver at Waverley in Edinburgh. My two eldest are in University and the two youngest started their new school in the village a couple of days ago. They are all very happy and settled. We now have both dogs with us which is great. I am maybe getting a transfer with my job but it's all up in the air at the moment.
We have a lovely new house with views out to sea in a tiny little village called Torryburn in Fife. With 4 bedrooms I finally get a craft room back. I'm so looking forward to making cards again. I think it's been almost 2 years since I made one, not sure if that is right???
I've also started another hobby of making cupcakes and as my cardmaking stuff is still in boxes my first post will be of my cupcakes!

Sorry the blog looks a little bare I'll be rectifying that very soon.
