Here's my first ever canvas.
PLEASE CLICK ON THE PIC FOR A BETTER LOOK AND MORE VIBRANT COLOURS.
I loved doing this! Getting really messy and just going for it!! Think I'll be doing a lot more!
Ok after much questioning of people I decided to gesso the canvas first. I then stuck bits of Papermania paper over the dried gesso and used a medium gel to apply it.I then sprayed a little water over the canvas and applied Dylusions inks letting them run a little. After that was dry I applied more gesso through a spotty mask and went over it with some white dabber. I then stamped various images in black colouring the poppy heads in with red pastel. Next came the white pen to add all the highlights and dots. And then the She Art collage pieces which I again applied with the medium gel. They looked a bit fresh and new so I smooshed over some of the dylusion inks to blend them in with the background. Oh the bird and branch are a Marianne Designs die. Finally the words which came with the she art collage. I cut them out and went around them with walnut distress ink. Think that's everything!!

Postcard
This is a first for me today. I picked up some blank postcards in WHSmith to have a go at. Here's what I came up with.
First I smooshed distress stains onto the blank postcard. I then stamped several images from the Papermania urban stamps collections over this with different coloured stains and inks. The birds and notes are from a pad by Papermania called Book Print. I cut them out and went over them with medium gel and again some distress stains. The saying is from a collage kit.

Sugarplum Daisy Part 2
So here's the last 2 samples of the Sugarplum Daisy CD from Polkadoodles.
I've used a shaped card and covered it in papers from the CD. For the background I printed out one of the scenes and used a Spellbinders die to cut around it. I then printed out a black and white image and some of the birds. The image was coloured with copics and her wings have some lace stickles on them.I added a ribbon and a sentiment from the CD.
My second card has been made with the printed images. I printed a bigger one out and then die cut it and printed a second smaller one and cut around it to use as an embellishment. A Martha Stewart punch has been used for the borders and I made the flower by rolling it around a quilling tool. Some pearls and ribbon complete the card.
And if you're still reading then those are my 5 samples!
Have a lovely weekend.x

Sugarplum Daisy
Today I'd like to show you some of the samples I made for the brand new Polkadoodles CD, Sugarplum Fairy which was launched at Harrogate and was also shown on Create and Craft on Thursday.
For this one I used a preprinted topper and cut it out using a spellbinders die. I coloured one of the black and white images with copics and added some lace stickles to her wings. The sentiments are black and white so you can colour them to match your project, so I have used lavendar distress ink to colour mine. I also used a preprinted border.
The next one is an easel card.
I printed out papers, border, sentiment from the CD and also another black and white stampie. Again I coloured the image and sentiment with copics and distress inks. The heart border and butterfly are from Martha Stewart punches.
My 3rd project is a little bag.
I bought some cheap little white bags from Hobbycraft. I covered the front of the bag with papers and then printed out the stampie. I coloured the image again in Copics.Added some stickles to her wings. The flowers were made with a couple of punches and papers from Sugarplum Fairy CD. The sentiment was printed out and again I dusted over some distress ink.
I have 2 more to show but I'll save them for tomorrow. Hope you enjoyed looking at my samples.

I used a blank easel card and covered it with some Sugarplum Fairy papers and a preprinted border. I also used a preprinted topper and punched out some flowers with contrasting papers. The sentiment is also from the same CD as is the beautiful butterfly. I then just added some of my own pearls, ribbon and gems.
The other DT girls have made some beautiful mother's day cards. You can see them all on the Polkadoodles Challenge blog. Hope to see yours too!!

Cute Card Thursday, Papertake Weekly
Hi bloggers, been a very quiet week blogging for me as I've been busy with the new Polkadoodles Sugarplum Daisy CD samples which are showing today on Create and Craft!
So today I'm back and showing you a card that I made for my DT card for Cute Card Thursday and it also ties in with this week's Papertake Weekly Challenge.
The theme for Cute Card Thursday is
Anything Goes
And the theme for Papertake Weekly was choose a line from their bingo card. I chose a diagonal line which had Flowers, free and buttons.
Here is my card.
I've used a fantastic Nitwits freebie from the magazine called Thimbles and Threads. The freebies included a paper pack which had paper embellies in also and a lovely little stamp set. The only thing from my stash was the card blank and buttons. Worth getting the mag for I think.I coloured in the image with Copics.
As the theme was anything goes my fellow teamies have made some beautiful cards and all so different so why not pop over to CCT and take a look and join in.

4 Fab Kids
I bought a great book from Paperchase which I thought would make a good journal. I was right!! It has a kraft front cover and is square. The pages are a good quality and held all my paints, inks etc really well and it only cost me (or should I say hubby! £8.
Here's my first page of my new journal.
I got the idea after finding the art journal threads over on the UKScrappers site and the prompt for this week was numbers. Hence the 4 fab kids title.
I firstly used gel medium all over the page and stuck fragments from an old book over the page. I then put another layer of the gel medium over that. The colours are from some acrylic paints that I picked up at the works. A little tub of about 10 paints for £4, another bargain. Next was gesso through a flower stencil and coloured with inks. Then it was the turn of lots of stamps which I then highlighted with a white pen.
The image is from a collage sheet by Lisa's Altered Art on esty. I did the same thing using the gel medium. I again used the white pen to highlight and then I went around the image with a black pen and smudged it to create a shadow.
The letters and number are chipboard. I distressed stained them and added some of the book fragments.
Finally I inked around the edges.

Polkadoodles Challenge
Yay Friday at last!! And time for another Polkadoodle challenge. This week it's
Men's Cards
I have made a grungy card for this one.
Men's Cards
I have made a grungy card for this one.
I used the Polkadoodles Not For Girls CD. The papers have been ripped , distressed and inked with distress inks. Also did the same for the ticket, image and sentiment.
The image and ticket are taken from the Eclectic file on the Not for girls CD and the papers are from the Back to Nature an readin and ritin files.
When the card was assembled I went over it with some distress stains. I then added some buttons as embellies.
If you go over to the Polkadoodle Challenge blog you will see some gorgeous Men's cards from the other DT members.
This week we have some lovely blog candy too! We have a basket craftable and a boat themed creatable die. They are both from Marianne Designs. Well worth joining in for!

Forget the past
Today Im showing an art journal page that I finished on Friday. I was waiting for it to dry but Saturday was such a busy day that I didn't get time to post it. On Saturday we went to Newcastle on the train to the Metro Centre. Wow that is one big shopping centre. Not a lot in the way of craft shops but I did pick up a few bargains in the Works shop.
So onto my page. I'm having trouble taking pics of my pages as my journals don't really open up well but think I may have fixed that now. I picked up a lovely journalling book in Paperchase and it has ring binders. So this should be my last "off" pic for a journal page. Also the pearl shimmer is casting too much shimmer in the photo looks much less in real life.
As always alot of mixed media stuff on this one.The figure is from a collage sheet by Liquid Poppy on Etsy. I used gel medium to get her to blend onto the page. The "words" * are computer generated.
* I am soooo frustrated with myself I just can't write what I want to and when I look at other journalling pages I love the writing on them but just can't do it! My handwriting is atrocious. I thought of using computer generated journalling but then I have to make it look right and blend into the page.
It's making me lean towards taking an online workshop more and more.Maybe the 3 hearts one? Anyone taken this yet?
