Cute Card Thursday

Today's project is for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge and the theme is......

Vintage

So here's my project, a Vintage Mad Hatter's Hat. It is 9 inches tall and 11 inches wide.

I have used a SVG Attic kit called Mad Tea Party kit. I've used the files that make the hat base, the price tag and the rolled flowers for this one. All cut on my Silhouette Cameo.
The black card is from Papermill Direct and I have embossed it and then used pewter gilding wax to bring the embossing out. I cut out the price using Papermill kraft card.
For the stamped images which are from Artistic Outpost I used Papermill luxury artist pad which is like a watercolour card. I stamped them with TH vintage photo distress ink and then used a water pen to drag the colour.
For the embellishments I cut the rolled flower file and used the same distress ink to colour the edges of the flowers. The lace has also been coloured with the ink. The hat pins were originally pink or white but I covered them in embossing ink and then embossed them with distress gold embossing powder. A little sprinkle of frantage fragments on the brim and it's finished.

Our sponsor this week is Sunflower Field.

Im also entering this project into a couple of challenges

Snapdragon Snippets & Papermill Direct

Just back from a lovely day at Crammond Beach just outside Edinburgh. Gorgeous sunny day too! We actually had something that I haven't seen for a very long time too. Do you remember Oysters from the ice cream van? Yummy!
Well I think my project that I'm showing is just right for today, it's a flip flop 3D box from Snapdragon Snippets.  I cut the file on my Cameo. It's really easy to put together and looks fab when finished.
I've used some lovely summer colours from Papermill Direct for the card. The card is Ocean Blue and Lime Green. This colour card is ideal for all your summer projects.

So here is my flip flop

Cute Card Thursday Challenge

Week 4 of the summer holidays already! It's flying by and the weather hasn't been too bad in Scotland so far.
But onto this week's Cute Card Thursday challenge and the theme for this week is

For The Birds

I've used Papermill white hammered and kraft card. I've stamped the ink blots and lines with clear embossing ink and then embossed with white embossing powder. I also stamped the text with black memento. The little birds and branch have been cut with my Cameo and it's a Lori Whitlock file. To co ordinate the birds I used a white pen to add some spots. The sentiment is a Dylusions stamp.

This week we are sponsored by Digiscrap Boutique. One lucky winner will win some of their goodies.
My other DT teamies have made some great bird projects, we'd love to see you joining in with us. You can see all their lovely work and details on how to join in on the CCT blog.

Decorations from Docrafts.

I was asked by Docrafts to make some projects with some of their products. This is my first project and a little tutorial on how I made them.
I made mine so that they were a Shabby Chic Tea Party style.

And with battery fairy lights in them.

Here are the products I used. You can see all the Docrafts products here at the online shop.

Papermania Capsule Collection - Wild Rose                  Xcut Extra large Christmas Decoration die

Tutorial

  • Die cut two of the decorations. If you use single sided papers then you need to turn one of the papers over to make it an opposite side. Ink all your edges with distress ink. I have used Tim Holtz Vintage Wood.

  • I put in a little brad in the middle, this made it easier for me to weave. Start weaving your decoration under, then over. There are instructions on the packet. You may find your first one a little fiddly but come the second you'll be an old hand at it!:0)

  • When you have weaved it to as tight as you want it ( mine was about 4 rounds), thread some cotton through the top holes using a needle and then knot.

  • Punch or die cut some embellishments. I've used Tonic and Martha Stewart punches. I cut four flowers out of the Wild rose papers so I could make them double sided. I then inked the edges and added a little pink gem. I punched out the butterflies and also inked them.

  • Adhere your embellishments with some strong glue. I have used Collal. I put the flower a little lower down from the top so it wouldn't get in the way of the threaded ribbon.
  • Add your ribbon and lights if required and there you go a great decoration for the house or garden. If you make them with papers remember to bring them in after use or you'll have soggy baubles. If you intend to leave them outside why not try embossed acetate?
I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and my shabby chic decorations.
I'll be showing another tutorial with a different die soon.

Papermill Direct

Me again think I may have my mojo back!!
Well today I'd like to tell you about some products from Papermill Direct that I used to make some fun teacher projects.

And also save 10% on a small box of card (approx 80 sheets) until Monday 14th July at 9am!

The first is a fun little card for the end of the summer term.

I cut out the card blank and drew the border and phrase on my Cricut Explore onto my favourite card , Papermill white linen. Really love this card it is so crisp and looks really elegant. I then printed this digi image "Overload at School" by Sassy Cheryl onto white linen and coloured it with Shin han and spectrum noir pens. I cut it out leaving a little border and then adhered it to the card with 3D pads.

Next is a little card and chocolate bar wrapper set.

These have been cut on my Silhouette Cameo and Cricut Explore. The chocolate bar wrapper is a file by Lori Whitlock. The apple is a file on Cricut Design Space as is the Note paper and sentiment.

Card is all by Papermill Direct
White Linen
Plain Black
Christmas Red
Buff

I can really recommend Papermill card for your die cutting machines , I use it all the time and get good, clean cuts.

My teamies have made some great projects too you can see them on the Papermill blog.

I made this one yesterday as the weather wasn't too good and the kids were amusing themselves.
It's made on my Cameo and is a file by Marji Roy on the Sil store.

I have used all Papermill card. Details below.

A side view so you can see the depth of the letter.

A close up so you can see the texture of the card.

I have used Papermill plain black card for the frame, this is a nice sturdy card great for frames as it holds up well. For the letters I have used the hammered white card, again this is really sturdy too.

Both card is available from the Papermill shop here

This will go on top of my craft wardrobe. :0)
