Treasure this day canvas.

I had to have some dentist work done today so when I got home to distract me from the pain I wanted to do something that would take my mind off it and also something messy. My hands are a pretty colour!! So I made this canvas with lots of textures and product.

Stamps: Unity Stamps - Mila Girl
Dies: Sixxiz - Tim Holtz
Products: Dylusions sprays, Texture paste, Inka gold, Acrylic paint, Crackle glaze, Frantage embossing powder, Distress Inks, white Posca pen..
Papers: MME - Indie Chic

Creative Expressions

Hello think I've finally got myself sorted out now and my mojo seems to be gradually coming back so today I'd like to show you a little coaster with a tutorial that I have made for my Creative Expressions DT project.

1. Take an old or blank coaster and cover with a thick layer of Gesso.

2. Using Tim Holtz Distress Stains in Dusty Concorde and Milled Lavender "paint" over the coaster. Then splodge Picket Fence Distress Stain over the painted coaster.

3. Stamp the Celtic Feather stamp onto the coaster with clear embossing ink and use a gold distress embossing powder.

4. Using a clear embossing ink and a white embossing powder randomly add little highlights around the coaster. I also used a little bit of sequin waste to one corner. Stamp out the flourish from the Floral Silhouette stamp plate in black ink around the corners.

5. Stamp one of the butterflies from the Floral Silhouette stamp plate onto lilac tissue paper with clear embossing ink and white embossing powder. Cut out.

6. Dab over all the white embossing powder with a little Milled Lavender distress ink to take away some of the starkness of the white.

7. Okay so here is where I made a mistake!!!! I tried to use some multi medium to adhere the butterfly and seal the coaster but it didn't work. It totally smeared everything. The best thing to use was Modge Podge. Because of this mistake I had to stamp out the flourishes again to make them show.

8. Because the modge podge was still a little sticky I put a little of the Western Blue Cosmic Shimmer Polished Silk Glitter onto my finger and lightly smeared over the coaster. I let it stick randomly.

And here is the finished coaster......

Studio 12 We Love Candy

Today we are celebrating the launch of  Studio 12 on the Studio 12 at Polkadoodles blog. It's been an amazing success! Selling out several times on Create & Craft!

Here's what Nikky has to say:

So, to celebrate the launch and it's massive success so far, we've decided that we should have some candy up for grabs. So make sure you follow us, give us a little plug on your own blog and then leave us a comment with a link to your post beneath this one and we will select 3 lucky winners using a random number generator to receive one of the Studio 12 collections on download - woohooo!

In addition, as this is a brand new blog and we'd like to increase our follower numbers, when we get to 200 followers we'll add some additional candy and do another random draw too - so please get spreading the word about how fab the Studio 12 blog is! We really do hope you like what we're bringing you, we think it's a great mix of styles and diversity, the team are really helping us all see just how much we can actually do when it comes to hybrid crafting with Studio 12, we've gone far beyond the realms of just cardmaking I think and we're only just getting started!

The Design Team have all come up with a project to show you today for a little inspiration. Mine is an altered frame which I made out of a £1.50 wooden frame.

I modge podged the whole frame and then measured and cut out papers from the Welcome Home kit from the Studio 12 Picknix collection 1. I next printed and cut out the houses from the Heavenly Garden kit, edged them with walnut distress ink and used 3D pads to adhere them to the frame. The flowers were cut from the papers and inked around the edges and again adhered with modge podge. The little butterflies were punched using a Martha Stewart punch. I also added a little lace stickle to the middles. the middle is a sentiment from the Welcome Home Kit and it has been cut out and inked and put into the recess in the middle of the frame. I then went over the whole thing with the distress ink.

If you'd like to win some candy and see the other DT girl's fab projects then you need to go here.

Tags

Another post from me today!! I was watching a Dina Wakley video where she was saying you should just put some colour down onto some tags and it inspires you. So I did!! And this is what I made.

They all have Dylusions sprays for backgrounds and various masks, stamps etc.

For this one I embossed it and went over with a white powder. The sun, cloud and crow are images from Crowabout Studio B. I then used some Making Memories rub ons.

For my second tag I've used a Stampotique stamp, sequin waste and Lisa's Altered Art words. The white circles are acrylic paint on a glue lid top.

My third tag is a Lisa's Altered Art image and I've used cream paint through a mask for the tiny squares.

I've made 6 tags altogether 2 each of the same background. Not used the other 3 yet so we'll see what I do with them later.

Art Journal

After seeing lots of these in several forums and liking the look of them I decided to have a go. Not a brilliant first page but a start!
My art journal will be with the theme of inspirational sayings.

I started off with a cheap book from Asda. It's pages are quite large maybe in hindsight I should have got a smaller one. It has a lovely soft grey cover and some files at the back. I think I'll be making some tags or ATCs to put in them.

I used distress inks, metallic acrylic paints, stamps, pastel pencils, Tim Holtz papers, tissue paper. I couldn't find my gesso so I used a glue instead.

The saying says " Spoken words fly away, written words last forever"

My desk now looks like a bombs hit it and my hands seemed to have turned a funny colour but I had fun and I think that's the main thing!!

A bit different

So I used to be into altered stuff a long time ago and then stopped and made cards instead. Now I'd like to do both so I made a very quick ATC to gently get me back into it. I aim to do an art journal soon.

I used a selection of distress ink pads for the base and then lightly stamped some patterns with the inks. For the main image I used black Stazon. The little sequins I got today at Poundland. A big bag for a .... £1. :0) I edged the ATC with some gold ink.

Stamps: Paper Artsy

When we moved back to UK from Germany I had to throw a lot of my craft stuff out. Grrr how I wished I'd kept it now , most of it was altered art stuff!!
