Creative Expressions Project

Here's this week's project for Creative Expressions.

I made a mini canvas. I first sprayed some inks over the canvas and then sprayed with water. I let the first layer dry and then reinked. The sentiment says "It just takes a small act of kindness to make a difference in someone's life". I embossed it with gold powder. Its been stamped on acetate. The sentiment is from the unmounted Special Sentiments plate. I also used the gold embossing to stamp some hearts along the bottom right hand side. They are from the unmounted Heart Entwined plate. The two big hearts are also from the same plate and are embossed with white embossing powder.

I'll show you another project next week.

Creative Expressions DT Canvas

Morning time to show my 3rd piece for Creative Expressions and this time along with the Steampunk Christmas set I've made a canvas.

Firstly I sprayed the canvas with red and green spray inks. I then made a stencil using the "25" stamp and used gesso to make the 25 stand out. When they were dry and I went over them with some lipstick red distress ink. I achieved some lovely texture on them this way. I stamped the bird and light bulb bloom onto acetate and coloured the backs with red, green and gold perfect pearls then adhered them to the canvas. Next came some clear embossing powder mixed with frantage copper fragments around the edges.I decided I didn't want to waste the actual cut out from the 25 stencil so I put that over one of the gesso 25's and added a little gold pen. I stamped up a cog with black ink and randomly stamped it over the canvas. Finally I added gold pen around the edges, bird and bloom and splattered a little onto the canvas.

Don't forget to go over to the Creative Expressions news blog as we are currently showing a meet the team blog post once a week. Also we have a facebook page where we show all the DT projects. They really are amazing.

Canvas and easel

Friday!!! Roll on tomorrow when my daughter is coming home for the weekend from Uni, really looking forward to seeing her.
So today is my turn on the Studio12 Polkadoodle blog. I've made a canvas to go on an easel.

I took a blank canvas and covered it with matt medium and then adhered the large rose paper from the All Sewn Up kit from the Picknix Collection 1 CD. I printed out the elements from the same All Sewn Up kit and inked them with walnut distress ink. I punched out the butterflies using the smaller rose paper and used them for a skirt for the dressmakers dummy. The buttons have been cut with a Marianne Designs die and the buttons from the CD. The sentiment is also from All Sewn Up. Before adhering the elements I used gesso and a flower mask to add some texture and also inked through some sequin waste. I also dabbed over some ink to make it look vintagey an also smeared some light pink paint over the canvas. The elements and sentiment were then adhered.

Don't forget to keep going over to the Studio 12 blog to see the fab projects the DT show.

Until .... canvas on easel

Here's what I've been up to this morning. I made this canvas after seeing a beautiful one on display at Craftworld. Needless to say it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. Not too sure about the wings.

I've first covered the canvas with some Tim Holtz resist kraft paper and then gone round it with walnut distress ink. Next came some tape washi tape that I got free from a magazine. Oh I used a gel medium to adhere the paper and tape to the canvas. The film strip is from a Tim Holtz stamp. The butterfly I stamped on acetate and cut out. I coloured it lightly with a copic pen. The crown and wings were stamps from a Hunkydory set and I've also used the same TH kraft paper to stamp them on. I gave the crown, wings and acetate butterfly a light dusting of perfect pearls interference violet. On the crown I placed a little butterfly which I cut out of shrink plastic. Finally the quote is from a set from Dylusions. NB the wings may have to come off not sure about them!!

Another She Art

Here's another She Art that I'd been commissioned to do. I think I'm getting a bit more confidence now in drawing the girls. Love the colouring of the clothes, think the aqua and coral together go really well.

My first canvas

Here's my first ever canvas.

PLEASE CLICK ON THE PIC FOR A BETTER LOOK AND MORE VIBRANT COLOURS.

I loved doing this! Getting really messy and just going for it!! Think I'll be doing a lot more!

Ok after much questioning of people I decided to gesso the canvas first. I then stuck bits of Papermania paper over the dried gesso and used a medium gel to apply it.I then sprayed a little water over the canvas and applied Dylusions inks letting them run a little. After that was dry I applied more gesso through a spotty mask and went over it with some white dabber. I then stamped various images in black colouring the poppy heads in with red pastel. Next came the white pen to add all the highlights and dots. And then the She Art collage pieces which I again applied with the medium gel. They looked a bit fresh and new so I smooshed over some of the dylusion inks to blend them in with the background. Oh the bird and branch are a Marianne Designs die. Finally the words which came with the she art collage. I cut them out and went around them with walnut distress ink. Think that's everything!!
