Spread your wings Journal page
Here is another art journal page I just finished. A generous lady called Lesley stamped some Dylusion images for me so I thought I'd better get to it and make something.
So the background is lots of Dylusion inks, acrylic paints, stamps, rub ons, stencils, masks etc. The image is from Dylusions and she's called Curious Corrin she has been coloured with the Dylusions inks but the face is using Copics. I also put a little lace along the bottom of her dress for a bit of texture. The quote is also another set from Dylusions and if I remember rightly it's called Quintessentials. The butterfly at the top left is stamped onto acrylic and coloured with perfect pearls. Suitcase and wings are from Indigoblo.
Oh and forgot that at the very beginning I adhered a napkin onto the blank page to add texture.

April's journal page
I'm showing April's journal page today. Not too much detail in this one as I'm late with it and I did it quickly.
I used Dylusions ink sprays, Papermania paper, stamps and some collage pieces. The April is bare chipboard letters covered in the Papermania paper.

Lol had to put in a bit of writing before I forgot what I did. Such an exciting life!!

4 Fab Kids
I bought a great book from Paperchase which I thought would make a good journal. I was right!! It has a kraft front cover and is square. The pages are a good quality and held all my paints, inks etc really well and it only cost me (or should I say hubby! £8.
Here's my first page of my new journal.

I got the idea after finding the art journal threads over on the UKScrappers site and the prompt for this week was numbers. Hence the 4 fab kids title.
I firstly used gel medium all over the page and stuck fragments from an old book over the page. I then put another layer of the gel medium over that. The colours are from some acrylic paints that I picked up at the works. A little tub of about 10 paints for £4, another bargain. Next was gesso through a flower stencil and coloured with inks. Then it was the turn of lots of stamps which I then highlighted with a white pen.
The image is from a collage sheet by Lisa's Altered Art on esty. I did the same thing using the gel medium. I again used the white pen to highlight and then I went around the image with a black pen and smudged it to create a shadow.
The letters and number are chipboard. I distressed stained them and added some of the book fragments.
Finally I inked around the edges.

Forget the past
Today Im showing an art journal page that I finished on Friday. I was waiting for it to dry but Saturday was such a busy day that I didn't get time to post it. On Saturday we went to Newcastle on the train to the Metro Centre. Wow that is one big shopping centre. Not a lot in the way of craft shops but I did pick up a few bargains in the Works shop.
So onto my page. I'm having trouble taking pics of my pages as my journals don't really open up well but think I may have fixed that now. I picked up a lovely journalling book in Paperchase and it has ring binders. So this should be my last "off" pic for a journal page. Also the pearl shimmer is casting too much shimmer in the photo looks much less in real life.

As always alot of mixed media stuff on this one.The figure is from a collage sheet by Liquid Poppy on Etsy. I used gel medium to get her to blend onto the page. The "words" * are computer generated.
* I am soooo frustrated with myself I just can't write what I want to and when I look at other journalling pages I love the writing on them but just can't do it! My handwriting is atrocious. I thought of using computer generated journalling but then I have to make it look right and blend into the page.
It's making me lean towards taking an online workshop more and more.Maybe the 3 hearts one? Anyone taken this yet?

Journal page

These pages are made with gesso, adirondak sprays, TH distress stains, paints, copics, stamps. Anything I could get my hands on really!! When finished I lightly sprayed it all over with some glimmer mist.
The words are some I found on the net and the I printed them out using Word.

Until you spread your wings ATC
I would like to get into the world of art journalling and thought after the last page I needed more practise. So an ATC might be a bit better to practise on. Well I tried to doodle on it but now I know doodling is just not my thing. So I think it's stamping for me.

Hard to believe but to start with I used a Tim Holtz ATC sized piece of card that was in one of his pads. I've inked it, painted it, stencilled it, just about everything you can imagine!!! The girl is from a digi kit by Wish Bliss Studio and is called Some kind of wonderful. I forgot all about these kits, I used to love using them in my digi layouts. They are ideal for art journalling. I made the saying using the computer and then just chopped it.
This will be one of a set of three.

Art Journal
After seeing lots of these in several forums and liking the look of them I decided to have a go. Not a brilliant first page but a start!
My art journal will be with the theme of inspirational sayings.

I started off with a cheap book from Asda. It's pages are quite large maybe in hindsight I should have got a smaller one. It has a lovely soft grey cover and some files at the back. I think I'll be making some tags or ATCs to put in them.
I used distress inks, metallic acrylic paints, stamps, pastel pencils, Tim Holtz papers, tissue paper. I couldn't find my gesso so I used a glue instead.
The saying says " Spoken words fly away, written words last forever"
My desk now looks like a bombs hit it and my hands seemed to have turned a funny colour but I had fun and I think that's the main thing!!
